KOHAT: The acute shortage of police personnel within the Kohat division, having borders with 3 social group agencies and 2 districts of geographic area, is seriously hampering efforts to take care of law and order scenario within the region.
Kohat division DIG Dr Ishtiaq Marwat told Dawn on Tues that he had been requesting the govt. through central police offices that a minimum of one,000 policemen were needed for readying at sensitive installations like sites of oil and gas corporations, police stations and on the boundaries with the social group belt.
He aforesaid that police stations were conjointly inadequate having solely 5 to 6 policemen, as a result policing within the district was severely affected. “Due to shortage of personnel, patrolling massive areas, checking importation, conducting raids and coping with alternative affairs is turning into acutely troublesome,” he added.
Dr Marwat aforesaid that the govt. had inducted solely a hundred policemen on temporary basis in Kohat, Hangu and Karak districts when the sectarian violence throughout last Moharram, that claimed 3 lives.
