Plane Diversion Was Saad Rafiq's Idea By: Qurat-ul-ain

RAWALPINDI: at first the govt had 2 choices to induce Dr Tahirul Qadri to urban center once he had 

arrived at Benazir Bhutto International landing field (BBIA) on Monday morning – either use a Fokker 

ATR27 

aeroplane to airlift him to urban center or a chopper of the geographical region government.

However, each these choices were unheeded once Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq instructed that 

the flight not be allowed to land at BBIA and be entertained to urban center, sources aforesaid.

However, before Rafiq’s suggestion was created and accepted, as several as one hundred seventy five 

Elite Force commandoes 

along with seventeen feminine commandos in plainclothes were delivered to the landing field at 

around 3am on Monday.

The Elite Force, that was shaped in 1997-98 by then chief minister geographical region Mian Shahbaz 

Sharif, was 

led by DSP Rana Shahid and DSP Raja Taifoor. They took positions on the apron of the landing field 

(where 

the Emirates flight was to land); the Fokker and {also the} chopper were also lay near .

According to a security official, the Fokker ATR27 was to be used if Dr Qadri united to be 

transported to urban center however if he resisted then the set up was to bundle him on to the 

chopper.

The West Pakistan International Airlines Fokker, that was to be used for airlifting Dr Qadri to 

urban center, 

was scheduled  to fly to Skardu on Monday however the flight was off to free the craft.

“In case he failed to agree, Dr Qadri was to be picked up by the Elite Force commandos and place 

within the 

helicopter,” a security official disclosed on condition of obscurity as a result of he's not 

authorised to 

talk to the media.

But as is currently acknowledge, this set up was modified at the last moment.

Dawn has learnt that the railways minister instructed the diversion set up.

As a result, the pilot wasn't given clearance for landing at BBIA; PML-Q leaders and also the PAT
