Apex Court Question Settlement In ATA Cases
LAHORE: A three-judge bench of the Supreme Court on Tuesday wanted help from the geographical area prosecution department on an issue of reconciliation in cases registered below provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).

Heading the bench, judge Tassaduq Husain Jilani determined that coercion was a criminal offense against the state and reconciliation in such cases was out of question.

The bench was hearing AN attractiveness of a murder convict seeking final judgment on the premise of settlement with the litigator.

Asif Siddique of Gujranwala had killed four individuals in 2002 ANd was tried by an anti-terrorism court. He was sentenced to death by the court.

His counsel explicit  that the convict had a reconciliation with legal heirs of the murdered; thus, he ought to be clean-handed.

The bench questioned the counsel on however someone condemned below anti-terrorism law may be clean-handed following a settlement.

The bench determined that many judgments had been delivered on the purpose that settlement in coercion cases wasn't allowable below the law.

The bench adjourned hearing of the attractiveness for next month and wanted help of the prosecution department on the matter.
